Spring has Sprung and Summer is here!
Things have been busy around Glowin' Dreams Farm, with a lot of changes happening! First, Quin Ca Buttons and Colonel Fritz Meyers are the proud parents of a colt, born June 4th at 4:22 am. This is "Q's" eighth foal and her third colt. Not bad for a 22 year old mare! Mom and Son are very healthy. "Quin" is big, strong, and has lots of energy, and can be seen loping circles around Q as she grazes. The pair attracts a lot of attention from passers by. As for his registered name, well, we are thinking about "Quincas Final Fritz". We figure she deserves a namesake, and we are also retiring her from having foals!
In May, my friend, Denise, and I went to Oklahoma for a week of intense cutting training! What a blast! The ranch is a 7,000 acre working cattle ranch. We were at the barn by 8:00 am every morning. After saddling up, we gathered our cattle for the morning sesson! Fresh cattle every morning and afternoon, 30-40 head. We didn't use any cattle twice the whole week. The ranch is beautiful! One morning, while waiting for the others to finish saddling up, Denise, Dianne and I got to move the bulls to another pasture. We helped the ranch cowboy move the mammas and calves to a new pasture another morning. We broke at noon for lunch, back in the saddle at 1:00 until 5:00 or so. Accommodations were phenomenal, the food rivaled a resorts, and the decor of the ranch house was absolutely stunning with bronze western statues and artwork everywhere! Our hosts and instructor were the best! As for the cutting instruction, we were "connected" to our instructor with headphones. That was great, as you never missed a word of his instruction. My little cutter, Skyline Marshall, took really good care of me, and I learned a lot--about the skill of cutting, reading cattle, and improving my horsemanship and riding skills. Denise and I had such a great time, we are already signed up for next year! Who knows..this may become a yearly “girl's retreat!” Look for pictures of our “working vacation” on the website.

Big changes have been happening. We have cut down on our herd and sold five head. We still have some nice horses for sale, though, so be sure to check them out on our “For Sale” page. We also have a new addition--a 4-year old palomino cutting mare, Ridin Stylish. "Jewel", as we call her, is a really pretty little filly, standing at 14.1 1/2 hh with a nice, short back and very pretty head. We were looking for a pretty, nicely bred cutting mare, preferably palomino, to breed to Colonel Fritz Meyers. Frank calls her a "snake", but I hate snakes and prefer to describe her as riding a slinky! She is very fast and very quick! Definitely lots of fun to ride!
We are in the process of making plans to connect our barn to the arena, giving us more stalls, a large tack room and grain room, horse wash room, and more storage for hay. It'll be nice to empty out the main barn floor of grain, etc, and be able to pull the cars, truck and tractor inside! Even better, we won't have to go out in the weather to get to the arena! We'll keep you updated on that progress.
Check out Colonel Fritz's page--we are offering various breeding deals, and are always willing to talk private consignments.
That's about it for now! Feel free to come for a visit, and check out the rest of the web pages. My webmaster, Hiliary Holbrook, works hard to keep me looking good and current! It would be wise to call before you come by, as we are in the midst of our penning/sorting season. Have a great summer!
